Emotional Therapy Counselling in Congleton
Facing the trauma, processing the guilt, and beginning to heal
Hello, I’m Aimee Booth, and I am a Emotional Therapeutic Counsellor and NCPS accredited, based in Congleton, and Cheshire. I want to talk to you about mental health, and I’d like to start with a few questions…
- Do you feel yourself getting angry and then wondering why you got so angry?
- Do you suffer from imposter syndrome?
- Do you tell yourself that you’re not good enough, or do the words you hear always seem to be negative?
- Do you find you struggle to enjoy the little things in life because you are stressing over the bigger things?
- Do you find yourself always apologising before knowing there is a problem?
- Do you ever struggle with how you are feeling and would like to find a better way of coping?
- Are you carrying shame around with you but it has become so much apart of you, its hard to imagine being without it?
We all process emotions in different ways; our experiences and upbringing forms habits over time and these are not always helpful. For example; if we have been taught that anger isn’t a good emotion then we learn to hide it. We might become afraid of showing how we really feel and become ashamed of this completely natural emotion.
We can learn a lot from listening to how we feel. Anger is not a bad or negative emotion. Anger is a “doing” emotion and some amazing things have been achieved by people who have used their anger to enact change.
Our brains create a coping mechanism when we are younger, these coping mechanisms are not always helpful when we become adults. With my help, we can work together to understand the reason for your feelings. I can give you tools, to help you learn new ways to cope when life throws you a curveball.
Wouldn’t it be amazing to be happier, instead of feeling guilty for feeling angry, depressed or anxious. We don’t have to feel guilty for the way we feel. Allow yourself to feel that emotion using the new tools that we will explore together, to truly process how you feel.

Discovery Session
Finding the right therapist is vital that is why I offer an initial free consultation. The initial discovery session will be 50 minutes and serves as a foundation for building a strong therapeutic relationship, identifying treatment goals, and determining the most suitable course of action based on your needs.
It is an opportunity to decide if you would like to continue with more sessions. This is a chance for you to decide if what I have to offer will be of help to you.

Emotional Therapeutic Counselling
Emotional therapy counselling, also known as ETC, is a holistic approach to psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals understand and process their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
As a ETC practitioner, I believe that emotions are central to our mental health and well-being, and that by understanding and working with our emotions, we can improve our overall mental health.
This can be delivered in person or via a remote meeting.

Walking Therapy
There is something about being out in the open and in the fresh air, regardless of the weather. That feeling of openness and space can not be replicated in a counselling room or on the phone.
Walking Therapy is a chance to walk and talk in the midst of nature; walking within the trees, along a beach or up one of the many beautiful hills that the nearby Peak District has to offer. Nature can help you in your emotional healing. It helps to reduce the feeling of isolation, it can help aid relaxation and it improves physical and mental well-being.
